Personal Upd8 | Henna | Beauty Tips | Natural Skincare | Veganism | Make Up Free Selfies | Lush | Creme de la Mer

Bf away yesterday so had a loooong bath. So current personal beauty tips…

Henna & coconut oil perfect redhead with tidy roots. Tinted & tidied eyebrows. Tinted eyelashes. If you keep the basics covered & use quality moisturiser (Creme de la Mer & Oz Naturals Hyalauronic Acid serum), get lots of exercise…don’t drink or smoke, you can get away with #nomakeupselfie pix!

I think my plant based vegan diet makes a big difference. Using lush cosmetics yellow fun for washing & sympathy for the skin twice a day and I’m really soft all over. Happy days!

It is laziness & boho style that means I don’t have time for makeup except tinted lipbalm (hint of fuschia) – but it’s working pretty well!

Argan Oil | Is it really sooo amazing?

ArganOil!

I have used oils as body moisturisers on and off for years. Mixed results. And the petrol element of them is off putting.

Apparently coconut oil can slightly block pores (not good if you work out and dance ballet a lot as I need moisture I can sweat through to avoid rashes). Jojoba oil is not really an oil – it is a wax and doesn’t have good moisturising properties.

By all accounts Argan oil is the perfect oil for skin and hair. So amazing that some call it “liquid gold”!

So, just settling down for a read before bed and using Argan Oil as an all over bedtime moisturiser.

Can it really be as miraculous as they say? I almost can’t wait to wake up tomorrow and see how my skin feels.

So far, my cruelty free stoptober skincare experiment is amazing me. I use high end usually. CremedelaMer, ysl, dior & Chanel mostly. Though always have the odd splurge at LushCosmetics too.

CDLM was the only face and body moisturiser that seemed to adequately moisturise my skin…but the company is owned by EsteeLauder who do test on animals.

Having switched to a plantbasedvegan diet this year…found I look and feel amazing on it. I slowly began to question the ethics…the moral implications of living compassionately. And decided, I would try it. I am not commiting myself to a full on veganlifestyle. But veganism has implications far beyond animalrights and beautywithoutcruelty – it has implications for the planet too.

I don’t want to ram it down people’s throats or get political. It is my choice. And I admit that cowspiracy, forksoverknives and earthlings made an impression.

Also, the health implications matter to me. The resources we use to maintain the meat and dairy industry are a concern. But eating animals that almost certainly suffered…doesn’t sit well with my conscience.

Can I say so far Lush, VeganCosmetics & naturalskincare products measure up against the big brands? Well, ten days in and I would say, there isn’t a perceptible change. Perhaps my legs feel less dry…but it is very early days. I got two pimples…they vanished in a day!

So far…so fabulous.

I love…being a hippie! ♡

image

I love…being a hippie! (Or…perhaps due to my penchant for all things victorian, a bohemian is more accurate…maybe a boho loves poetry more than psychedelic rock & tiedye?)

Anyway…VVV excited abt animal cruelty free stoptober now! Was worried abt coping with the changes u often get when your body gets used to new products.

I will be doing weekly reviews and mostly on Lush cosmetics – but also on stuff I use regularly henna for my preraphaelite redhead style, vegan & cruelty free makeup (I wear v little but a decent fuschia lipstick & a reliable red lipstick are my staples! So nervous of trying those but committed to the process).

Also using hyalauronic acid & vit c serum from olOznaturals, Biona coconut oil & will be using an organic argan oil for dry areas too.

Am so far loving the feeling of not rubbing petrol based, mineral oil & chemical nasties into my body and hoping it ‘sinks in’, while being aware, if I knew what was in it, I would probably hope it didn’t!

Anyway, watching Forks Over Knives, Earthlings and Cowspiracy definitely heightened my resolve to commit to an ethical and karmically sound diet and lifestyle…the diet part is no big change for me…the other parts are more of a challenge!
