I’m just uploading my latest Whispering Witch video to my youtube channel. It’s about applications for the Goddess Aradia Spell which is on the current special offer…but I had to end it with a massive THANK YOU to those people who are watching my videos, liking them, giving me feed back and subscribing to the channel at www.youtube.annalouisemay.net
I was really nervous about using this medium because I have Aspergers (a type of higher functioning autism) and sometimes it means, I don’t want to talk. I couldn’t see a way I would be able to make a channel I could use consistently in a way that would be useful. Before my dad died last year, it was something I told him I really needed to do as my business is online and as other networks are become less useful, youtube has gone from strength to strength. I wondered if maybe I might even be able to just use it post up some of my music…but couldn’t see a way of using it that would be particularly useful for my work given my limitations.
Well…the ASMR trend was the answer. And although the channel’s only been running a month, or 3 weeks, it has 45 subscribers. I don’t pay to advertise it or anything – I so share it on my other networks – but to put that in context, my WordPress Blog which I spend a lot more time on, has 30 followers. It does get more views but people don’t tend to subscribe.
Some of the videos I’ve posted have had a much higher number of views than I would have expected. And when I happened upon the ‘analytics’ page on youtube recently I was stunned to find almost 6000 minutes of view time has been racked up in the short time the channel’s been running.
I’ve had good feed back and I’m surprised that I’ve found a niche I can cater to; my style of vlogging is not typical but it’s gone down well – much better than I hoped.
So I post every night. And I will continue to. And thank you sooooo much to those who are already watching my channel…thank you to those who have shared it with other people…thank you for the feedback and thank you for staying tuned. I’m really, really pleased and surprised.
I would be most grateful to anyone who would share this with their friends…anyone who might be interested in my work. I will quote from the ‘blurb’ that comes up in the info area of my blogs and tells you a bit about it…
“Nocturnal Heart to Heart style vlog in ASMR soft speaking format from ALM, the Whispering Witch.
A bit about me, my vlog & the format I use…
I have Aspergers (a type of high functioning autism) means I’m more comfortable using ASMR “whispered conversation”. The mutual increased focus this initiates allows a more intimate communication & natural connection.
My intention is to use whispered conversation to provide a unique & informal style that will be relaxing to watch, pleasant to hear & with subjects accessible to viewers.
PLEASE wear headphones! (straining to hear a computer speaker isn’t relaxing!)
I plan to upload various vids; some may be general or personal updates; others may be more informative, based around my spiritual & magickal work; general chats & reviews. Also, ‘streams of consciousness’…with no fixed ‘subject’.
Please be aware, I have photosensitive epilepsy and when it gets late and I’m winding down, sometimes this affects me so I tend to wear sunglasses indoors – it’s not an attempt to look extremely cool! That’s just a side effect! I’m aware this looks kind of weird to some people but it means I don’t need meds to control seizures so I use what works for me and doesn’t have side effects.
NOTE: Although Whispering is used in ASMR, I use this technique because it is more comfortable for my autism & is a natural part of my night when I’m winding down for bed. More info on my intro vid – https://youtu.be/dNPMSkX5q9I”
If this sounds at all compelling, please tune in and please share the love! XXX

Gratitude is often cited as an essential part of the process of manifesting. When we talk about manifesting there is always a contingent that thinks it’s wishful thinking. Perhaps even delusional.
There is a contingent of people who believe in hardship and suffering – considering these things more “real” than positive experiences, happiness and a sense of wellbeing. Not realising the effect their focus has on their perception. And on their life experience. As they say – there is no good wind for a ship that doesn’t know where it’s going!
Defining your intentions isn’t necessarily easy. We are often ambivalent about the things we think we want and create our own resistance to achieving them. For example, you want to lose weight but you don’t want to give up fast food. You want to become a manager but you don’t want to lose the connection you currently have with your co-workers.
Writing a list of pros and cons to help you decide if what you think you want is what you really want can be emotionally tough. Admitting some things to yourself…like an intense fear of failure…can make you feel less confident and less capable before it makes you feel better! But developing our self awareness is sometimes hard. It also may take time to feel right in yourself when you call yourself to account.
I remember a long time ago…ending a long term relationship that was essentially abusive, was difficult in a personal way because I felt so guilty for putting myself through it and for ever holding myself in such low esteem that I let things slide that I shouldn’t have. Far more than the change in my circumstances or ideas of missing what I was used to in my life, I was really consumed by guilt about my own bad treatment of myself in allowing the relationship to continue when I should have ended it years back.
So self awareness that allows objective and precise definition of your goals and intentions is a process. It is something you learn to do better the better you know yourself.
Which is why I advocate a focus on Gratitude as a primary means of achieving your goals…and here’s why…
Developing a habit of being grateful means shifting your perspective and allows you to see the good in the bad; the opportunity in knock back; the potential in the struggle. And approaching development of self awareness with an “attitude of gratitude” makes the process far less painful. Seeing the good in the bad even while you’re experiencing something challenging, turns the tables!
On my channel www.youtube.annalouisemay.net I recently recommended some exercises to assist in embracing gratitude. And one that I think is a real eye opener to the potential of “counting your blessings”, is to push yourself to do it!
You might choose any number for this challenge…if you keep a gratitude diary and every day write down the things you are grateful for – even on days that seemed predominantly bad, you may find you remember being grateful for small things…enjoying the smell of the rain…having a long hot bath…your home…the things you take for granted you might be able to fill a page with if you decide to do it.
But what about if rather than count your blessings, you challenge yourself to find 100…200…500. List the numbers and at the start of the exercise you will tend to list things like friends and family. Pets. Your home. Your job. Once the big things are covered you being to list the small things…your first coffee of the day…the falafels you had for lunch…etc.
And then it becomes harder…you have so many numbers to fill. You’re wracking your brain. And pretty soon you’re writing good aspects of bad experiences. Once it begins your mind ferrets through your whole past looking for potentially good things in the negative experiences of the past. If you keep at it, you can’t help but fall into a mindset of gratitude and a feeling that nothing bad ever happened to you…there were challenges but they turned out to be good things later.
That’s the mindset that aligns you with your goals, ambitions and hopes and dreams; with no inner conflict or resistance to good things coming into your life you don’t just attract good things because you resonate with good things – your mind is focused in a way that means you see opportunities – you look for them and so you see them just as surely as people looking for problem are absolutely guaranteed to find them.
It’s a choice. We can’t choose everything that happens to us. But we can choose how we interpret it and respond to it.
So I absolutely recommend starting any manifesting work with actively pursuing and cultivating an attitude of gratitude. Everything naturally follows from decision.
It’s me! #selfieoftheday showing Mineral Magic Mineral Powder (no concealer or anything…this is just the powder, appied with a kabuki brush over Creme de la Mer), eyebrows defined with wunderbrow & lush cosmetics strawberry bombshell tinted lipbalm. I am kind of testing the mineral magic. I don’t wear make up as a rule but when I do it is usually just powder, lipstain and a pair of sunglasses!
So I am wearing mineral magic when I sleep and over moisturiser, over serum, when exercising. Just doing as much as I can with it to see if it irritates around the eyes, dries the skin around my nose, causes spots etc. So far I absolutely love the stuff but am gonna continue my totally unscientific testing as I want to blog about it. I am sure I am not the only 42 year old woman who can’t be bothered with REAL makeup! So, along with my random blogs I think beauty tips and haircare is something that I consider enough to share with my followers.
By the way, I know many people who follow me are current, previous or potential students & clients of www.mayastar.net and www.mayamagickal.net – but I know some follow my artwork too. Or are into similar things (henna, magick, ballet, dance, hiphop, corsetry, preraphaelite art, poetry, tightlacing, meditation – I think some probably find a bit of a kindred spirit because of my autism – I’m aspergers which is a kind of high functioning autism – or maybe just like my style!), but I really do appreciate it!
On my various social networks I have 29000 followers at the moment and it seems amazing – and flattering in a way too. I’m not a natural when it comes to putting myself out there but because my work is online (teaching distance learning courses for spiritual development & self realisation mostly), it’s important for me to be as accessible as possible while keeping a balance.
I think my students and clients find it reassuring…they are able to get a “feel” for me as a person and my principles…and also my interests. I think that can help connect in a more personal way than I would be able to do in real life. Not because I am antisocial but more because my autism means I relate and communicate far more effectively through writing than through speaking. In most ways I am a natural hermit…but that’s a bonus in the work I do. I also think people feel more able to open up to me in a constructive way when it means they have to consider their words and articulate their thoughts and feelings in a way that encourages selfawareness far more than speaking does.
This can be an essential part of tailoring magickal work for people. I don’t advertise my magickal work as so much comes from recommendations…which is a good thing! I don’t ask people to review my magickal work because it’s v personal. I am a psychotherapist and qualified in counselling which I think also helps…but I wouldn’t advertise that either. So most online reviews are for my teaching work. There are quite a few on www.linkedin.annalouisemay.net and some of www.maya.mayastar.net (FB) too…and quite a few testimonials on the http://www.mayastar.net testimonials page. But for people interested in attunement work, I think the articles on MS – especially www.mayastar.net/courseswork.htm, help people to understand what I do and whether it’s a good fit for them. Likewise, the articles on Maya Magickal that explain what I do and my experience etc, are helpful to people considering whether my work may assist them in their personal goals.
Social media does seem a strange addition…my blogs are not exactly themed and pretty much cover my hobbies and thoughts. But I do think it’s an added dimension to online presence that’s helpful in a way that’s evolved with my work 🙂
Obviously if you work for yourself, regardless of how vocational you consider that work, advertising, marketing and letting people know you exist is important. An example is, if you wanted a new credit card you would put it in google and find the best fit for you. Whereas my services may sometimes be searched for but more often are found by people who didn’t know this kind of energy work was available – so people more often find me when looking for something similar rather than looking for me.
Gosh…that was a looong blog. I hope it makes some sense. In a nutshell, thank you to those who follow me! I really appreciate it. X
I better sign off…bubblebath blogging and the water is getting chilly…and my Teddy Boy is due for dinner and some Studio Ghibli entertainment soon.
