I’ve been trying to write a blog for 3 days about the #midwichcuckoos effect I notice in some ppl faced w/ a #highfunctioning #autistic. I am an #Aspergirl (#Aspergers is a kind of #Autism). But I also study psychology…I practice #magick so I think that’s important. But this current blog is going all over the place. I can’t seem to make my point without ending up trying to illustrate it with anecdotes that rapidly wind up off topic.

Think I may leave it a few days b4 I try again 😛

I think I’ve written so much about #narcissisticpersonalitydisorder #npd that wherever I begin, I keep writing abt them to illustrate the difference in autism. #narcos are like the polar opposite of autistics. Terrible personality clash. But comparing atypical to atypical isn’t v helpful in explaining what is unique to the #autiste!

Grrr. I’m frustrating myself. I may write about something else and come back to my Midwich Cuckoo one.

I’m really excited about developing my #asmr skills…it’s something I have always used in magick. Also in my personal #meditation work. But I have some ideas for applications I would like to explore. Not #roleplay or #sex – I think #asmr works well to help relax the conscious mind…but retain a higher level of concentration. Such as you would using meditation. Anyway…I will be experimenting with that soon…and will share poss on my youtube and also my wordpress…see how it goes.

No make up selfie of the day – general blog…

Tonight I don’t see my boyfriend as busy night for spells (Saturnian planetary influence) for Maya Magickal Spells & Personalised Initiation Programmes – also he has an early start Sunday morning.

So Saturday is my admin night for Mayastar Academy Online Natural Healing & Spiritual Development Courses but I try to make it a bit of girlie night in – listening to audiobooks about spirituality or mythology…and audio novels – I like thrillers…and gothic styles.  Fantasy novels. Crime novels. I think audiobooks have replaced the TV for me.

As you can see, henna mix with lashings of coconutoil applied. Eyelashes & eyebrows tinted to avoid that enkempt washed out look.

Have to make a bit of effort once you’re over 40 – esp if you’re a hippie & red hair & Lush tinted lipbalm is your only concession to daily “maintenance”! (I’m very sparing when it comes to make up and hairstyling. But like to consider it more a boho chic choice! Important to be proactive about your inactivity…otherwise it is just laziness!)

I maintain my health by my lifestyle choices – daily exercise, daily meditation, stretching etc. Also, I don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t sunbathe, don’t stress, don’t eat sugar habitually. But DO use Creme de la Mer & Lush skincare. 

Other natural beauty tips: seven hours sleep a day (I’m nocturnal), drink Apple Cider Vinegar (tastier than it sounds) – and green drink powder to keep a healthy alkaline diet even if you’re busy or your appetite’s low. Keep good habits and it shows in your health on all levels.

My appetite seems non existent this week but that usually happens if I’m getting more exercise or the weather’s changing – Apple Cider Vinegar is my genius back up to normalise my appetite! But so I keep healthy, I always make sure I keep a supply of green drink in…packed with powdered green veggies and grasses and high nutrition.

It’s been a bad month for bad food choices. If like me, you are liable to lose your appetite, I think understanding your body needs a rest from digestion sometimes is important. Otherwise you risk “emergency fast food eating” because you mostly don’t feel hungry and when you do, you want to eat before your appetite wears off. I honestly don’t know how many times me and my Teddy Boy have eaten pizza this month…definitely too many.

Non vegan foods send my digestion whacky. Cheese is just “yellow lard” to me – I don’t seem to enjoy it much…so pizza is silly fast food. I can get spicy rice noodles from my local takeaway if I really fancy being thirsty from the salt overdose. But he currently favours pizza so we’ve both eaten junk :s

Anyway, for lazy but healthy eaters, I recommend keeping a good supply of noodles, shirataki and brown rice with tons of v fast food vegan sauces always in the house. Pistachio nuts too. Healthy snacks. But with good sauces and noodles/rice, I can make a giant and healthy meal far quicker than Dominoes can deliver an unhealthy salty, fatty one!

So, I’m blaming lack of appetite on my naughty boyfriend being a bad influence!

Spider has been a useful test subject for my green drink – he prefers to healthy. Also, he’s used to me smelling of henna…which smells like you’ve lying in the grass on a drizzly day. I like the smell but it’s quite strong and some people try to disguise it with essential oils in their henna mix. Because he likes the smell of my henna, I thought maybe he would enjoy the green drink – lots of people complain it’s like drinking muddy water. Or that it doesn’t really taste of anything but looks like muddy water! Some people actually blanch at the idea of adding vinegar to it (Apple Cider Vinegar doesn’t taste like vinegar). So despite the appearance of it, he tried it, was amazed, and converted. He’s buying green drink powder for himself after I made him up half a dozen bottles with tinctures and drops to fight his cold.

A week or so ago he had a really stinking cold – the kind with a cough that stops you sleeping. So he definitely needed it.

I increased my apple cider vinegar intake because of its alkaline benefits, to prevent me catching it. I also added propolis drops, chlorophyll (no to be confused with chloroform!), echinacea drops & colloidal silver drops. How would that help? How would an alkaline drink stop me getting a cold?

Well, if you stay alkaline, you don’t get colds. The virus can’t live in an alkaline environment. The same goes for many bugs. You also can avoid a lot of serious health problems with an alkaline diet: Higher alkalinity reduces inflammation generally in the body. Which means it can help you to avoid some major diseases that seem to be either caused or exacerbated by our very acidic western diet.

It’s not only diet that creates an excessively acidic system either. Stress and exercise can do that too. I work out a lot (rebounding, ballet,  hiphop & latin) – daily and intensively sometimes (you’d be surprised how intensive ballet is!), so to neutralise acid formation, its important for me to keep alkaline as much as poss if I don’t wanna compromise my immune system function. It’s also great for your complexion. Good health definitely shows in the body…as does bad health.

A vegan diet is usually (as long as it’s essentially a plant based vegan diet, not a vodka and oreos vegan diet!) naturally alkalising. And that carries massive health benefits.

It does mean avoiding fat from animal sources especially though. Animal protein literally decomposes in your digestive system – decomposition isn’t the same as digestion. It means toxic yuckiness can build up. And that applies to white meat meat as well as red. The toxins produced by the decomposition of meat in your body increases the risk of gastrointestinal cancers. On top of the other problems associated with meat – the hormones in it, the acidity of it etc.

Also, avoiding sugar and refined carbs; avoiding alcohol and stimulants like tea or coffee – these are simple ways to make your diet more alkaline. I naturally do these things most of the time, so it’s not a radical diet change for me but for some people it would be and Green Drink may be a very simple way of alkalising or starting to make positive changes.

When the blood is overly acidic we tend to carry fat to store acidic “toxins” in as emergency precaution by the body. But our body has a limited capacity to do this. In addition, the body coats the arteries with plaque deposits to protect them from acidic blood. This is what atherosclerosis is and on a Western diet, it is the root of most death and disability…we consider it an “age related” condition. But it’s actually predominantly a lifestyle consequence that’s totally avoidable! We begin to show damage in our arteries in early childhood.

In the West we also have problems with brittle bones as we age and that’s another consequence of diet…the body leeches minerals from the bones to try to neutralise the acidic state. So we shrink. We get joint pain. Even the bones in our faces shrink by this process, making us age prematurely from the inside out.

I really recommend the work of NutritionFacts.Org to anyone who would like to know more and see the evidence – the clinical trials and the suppression of the problems with certain food groups that have been documented for decades

Naturally, I didn’t catch his cold! But the benefits of keeping your diet and lifestyle healthy could be the key to preserving your looks…as well as your health span and life span ♡

If you think changing your diet is a radical option, think about how radical heart bypass surgery would be…when it comes to weighing up the pros and cons, I don’t personally think any food tastes so good I would risk a stroke or congestive heart failure in order to keep eating it.

Today’s face of thunder #nomakeupselfie…

When u find out you been played…and realise sometimes #magick is the only way to break a negative karmic bond with someone who doesn’t have #selfawareness or #principles.

“You can’t reason with the unreasonable.”

But you def don’t want them messing with your energy and skewing your balance.

So tonight, my #pms combined with the #fullmoon and influences of Jupiter, I think working #Nataraj Dance of Destruction Reversal Ritual (focused on invoking justice – it’s a good #spell for tweaking in that way), would be the best fit! Plus I have a new choreographed version for tweaking the Nataraj Working for Justice and not a simple reversal as the two are so often requested together. So, tonight will be the first casting of the new one…a bit exciting to see how it will work. If it doesn’t “flow” I think perhaps it would be a good choreographical addition to the #Valkyrie working.  But feel the reversal element is essential to a a Justice By Right spell. I may end up doing a new spell for this option ultimately so watch this space! Xx

This blog is for those who don’t want to use products or heat for styling but like that grunge hair, curly hair, big hair look. I recommend my own (pretty lazy but very versatile) haircare & styling tips!

I will intersperse with pix showing various ways of understating and overstating the updo part…and the different results. Sorry about the lighting variations etc – the photos are from selfies over a period of time that I chose because I thought they gave an overall view of the results. But they’re in no particular order so I’ve captioned them.

As with any beauty tips it may not work the same way on other people as it does on me. So you may want to adapt it a bit – so I included my own adaptations because I use different methods on the same principle to create different styles I like.

My hair is currently shoulder length with long layers. But I used the same technique when it was tailbone length – that didn’t work so well the weight of my hair would pull it straighter at the top so I adapted my technique over time.

I am growing it out now but it really is thick so I plan to keep long chunky layers as I do. I think for very long hair, sleeping in a very loose french plait would be a better option – or using a french plait starting at the nape of neck and working forward. Then fastening the front and twisting the rest around it. The longer it is, the easier it gets to vary your twisting results.

I find if my hair is over frizzed from plaiting, over flat at the scalp from a tight bun or pony tail for dancing, or overly slippy after a deep condition with my regular henna & coconut oil treatment, it can work to take out some of the frizz or to add some volume while giving a bit of a root boost for big hair. But using no heat or hair products prevents damage and is easily adaped to a variety of  “don’t care” hair dos!

If you want to try it to straiten it a bit, roll in big sections. If you want more curls and volume, use small rolls. For me, 3 rolls for a less voluminous hairstyle. 5 for a big hair grunge curl effect. For differences in volume experiment with tight twists and looser ones to see how your hair responds.

It can be done with damp hair. It can be done while you sleep. Or you can make a hair of the day style by adding some accessories like the humble (but tres chic) hairstick for something that looks like a deliberate updo 🙂

Because my hair is very think and it takes styling easily so I don’t usually damp it because it would take longer to dry. If I’m having a hot bath the steam from the bath is enough moisture to style mine at its current length. Even if it’s slightly damp when I “unravel”, I can let the residual dampness dry naturally and create a suitable boho redhead to match my style!

So first…work out where it’s comfortable to wear the weight of the bun. The crown is very flattering…but if you have a wall behind your bath, it won’t work well if you want a long soak!

So I keep mine forward or very high. And decorate with hairsticks, ribbons and scarves if I’m planning to wear it all day.

But make sure it’s at a level that provides suitable weight distribution for you (to avoid pulling and discomfort) and then use scarves and accessories to create the illusion of the shape you want.

Decide if you want to damp your hair and if you do, it’s a trial and error experiment to work out how long it will take to dry fully.

Also decide if you want to brush beforehand for neater waves and curls. Or leave it unbrushed before twisting for a more messy style – grunge waves and volume.

First, take a section from your fringe…it doesn’t need to be big but I use a bigger section there so that it creates large waves around my face. Whenever you make the first twist it needs to be the most stable as all the other twists will be worked around it.

Twist the section until it’s twisting around itself and hold it in place with a scrunchie.

Then repeat this with the rest of your hair, winding each round the first and securing it with a scrunchie whenever needed.

When its finished, its a massive updo made up of hair and scrunchies. I use black and burgundy velvet scrunchies so they blend with my hair. It gives the illusion of a bigger updo.

When finished…take your bath (the steam will help it set) or add accessories if you’re keeping it up for the day.

You can leave sections free on long hair that you can plait into a design over the waves afterwards too. Keeping decorative plaits around the hairline at the front is a good idea because you can use them as part of your down do later on 😀

It’s me! #selfieoftheday showing Mineral Magic Mineral Powder (no concealer or anything…this is just the powder, appied with a kabuki brush over Creme de la Mer), eyebrows defined with wunderbrow & lush cosmetics strawberry bombshell tinted lipbalm. I am kind of testing the mineral magic. I don’t wear make up as a rule but when I do it is usually just powder, lipstain and a pair of sunglasses!

So I am wearing mineral magic when I sleep and over moisturiser, over serum, when exercising. Just doing as much as I can with it to see if it irritates around the eyes, dries the skin around my nose, causes spots etc. So far I absolutely love the stuff but am gonna continue my totally unscientific testing as I want to blog about it. I am sure I am not the only 42 year old woman who can’t be bothered with REAL makeup! So, along with my random blogs I think beauty tips and haircare is something that I consider enough to share with my followers.

By the way, I know many people who follow me are current, previous or potential students & clients of www.mayastar.net and www.mayamagickal.net – but I know some follow my artwork too. Or are into similar things (henna, magick, ballet, dance, hiphop, corsetry, preraphaelite art, poetry, tightlacing, meditation – I think some  probably find a bit of a kindred spirit because of my autism – I’m aspergers which is a kind of high functioning autism – or maybe just like my style!), but I really do appreciate it!

On my various social networks I have 29000 followers at the moment and it seems amazing – and flattering in a way too. I’m not a natural when it comes to putting myself out there but because my work is online (teaching distance learning courses for spiritual development & self realisation mostly), it’s important for me to be as accessible as possible while keeping a balance.

I think my students and clients find it reassuring…they are able to get a “feel” for me as a person and my principles…and also my interests. I think that can help connect in a more personal way than I would be able to do in real life. Not because I am antisocial but more because my autism means I relate and communicate far more effectively through writing than through speaking. In most ways I am a natural hermit…but that’s a bonus in the work I do. I also think people feel more able to open up to me in a constructive way when it means they have to consider their words and articulate their thoughts and feelings in a way that encourages selfawareness far more than speaking does.

This can be an essential part of tailoring magickal work for people. I don’t advertise my magickal work as so much comes from recommendations…which is a good thing!  I don’t ask people to review my magickal work because it’s v personal. I am a psychotherapist and qualified in counselling which I think also helps…but I wouldn’t advertise that either. So most online reviews are for my teaching work. There are quite a few on www.linkedin.annalouisemay.net and some of www.maya.mayastar.net (FB) too…and quite a few testimonials on the http://www.mayastar.net testimonials page. But for people interested in attunement work, I think the articles on MS – especially www.mayastar.net/courseswork.htm, help people to understand what I do and whether it’s a good fit for them. Likewise, the articles on Maya Magickal that explain what I do and my experience etc, are helpful to people considering whether my work may assist them in their personal goals.

Social media does seem a strange addition…my blogs are not exactly themed and pretty much cover my hobbies and thoughts. But I do think it’s an added dimension to online presence that’s helpful in a way that’s evolved with my work 🙂

Obviously if you work for yourself, regardless of how vocational you consider that work, advertising, marketing and letting people know you exist is important. An example is, if you wanted a new credit card you would put it in google and find the best fit for you. Whereas my services may sometimes be searched for but more often are found by people who didn’t know this kind of energy work was available – so people more often find me when looking for something similar rather than looking for me.

Gosh…that was a looong blog. I hope it makes some sense. In a nutshell, thank you to those who follow me! I really appreciate it. X
